Yes, our internal water-cooled solution is the best alternative when you are not allowed (or don’t have room) to install a condenser on the outside of the property.

Do I need Planning Permission?

As our systems are fully internal there is no requirement to apply for Planning Permission or carry out a noise survey. If you are a leaseholder, we would always recommend checking your lease to see if internal works are permitted without notifying the freeholder, but you will definitely not need local authority approval.

Are air conditioning units covered by house insurance?

This depends on your insurance. You may need to add your air conditioning unit to your home insurance so it’s covered by named instances. If in doubt, contact your insurer to find out if your AC is covered or if you need to increase your premium to cover it.

Are air conditioning systems expensive to run?

Modern air conditioning costs far less to run than people think because they are much more energy-efficient. Our internal water-cooled air conditioning system, for example, is rated AAA for energy efficiency.

Typical air conditioning systems provide 3kw of cooling with just 1kw of electricity used.

What is the size of the wall mounted unit?

The size of the unit is determined by the cooling capacity required by the room. A small 2kw model is very compact and is just under 800mm wide.

Can the wall unit be taken off the wall/removed in a rented apartment?

Yes, if you were to sell or move out of your property and you wish to take your system with you we would need to attend and decommission the system. This would involve pumping down the system so the refrigerant is safely stored inside the condenser unit, isolating the electrical power and communication cables and then taking down the units from the walls - please note that there will be some small holes in the wall that would need to be repaired after the wall units have been taken down.

How does internal air conditioning compare to conventional air conditioning?

Our wide range of internal water air conditioning systems provide a cooling capacity of up to 15kw and a cooling power input of up to 5kw. This makes our internal systems as powerful and efficient as any conventional air conditioning unit.

Our internal water cooled air conditioner can supply up to 8 rooms with cool air at the specified desired temperature, easily controlled with our smartphone app or remote.

What does the surveyor need to see during an on-site or video survey?

When conducting an on-site or video survey, our surveyors will need to view the following:

  • The rooms where you would like air conditioning installed
  • Your preferred location for the internal condenser unit
  • The ceiling space between the indoor units and the condenser location (to check for a false ceiling that can accommodate pipework)
  • Mains water and drainage connection points for the condenser
  • A picture of the fuse board (to check if there is a spare circuit available for the condenser)
  • The type of wall construction in your property (e.g. stud or solid walls)

What temperatures can a water cooled system achieve?

A water cooled air conditioning system can cool your room to the same temperature as a conventional air conditioning system, typically around 18°C. However, we recommend setting the room temperature to 21–22°C, as 18°C can feel quite cold.

All air conditioning systems generally lower the room temperature by 10–12°C. For example, if the room starts at 26°C when the system is turned on, the air coming out of the unit will be between 14–16°C. As the room temperature drops to 21°C, the air exiting the unit will be around 9–11°C.

It's important to note that the setpoint temperature on the remote control refers to the desired room temperature, not the temperature of the air coming out of the unit. Lowering the setpoint will not make the air coming from the unit colder; this is determined by the temperature of the air entering the system.

What is the best temperature to set air conditioning to?

The ideal temperature for a home varies depending on personal preference, but setting your air conditioning unit between 20 °c and 22°C offers a great balance of comfort and energy efficiency. It’s worth adjusting your system slightly to discover what feels best for you.

Will air conditioning improve the air quality of my home?

Yes, air conditioning can contribute to better air quality in your home. Our indoor units have washable air filters that purify the air by capturing dust, moisture, bacteria, and airborne pathogens. This significantly improves indoor air quality, making it healthier for anyone with asthma, allergies, hay fever, or other respiratory conditions.

With our air conditioning systems, there’s no need to open windows and let in outdoor pollutants—perfect if you live in a busy or polluted urban area.

Will air conditioning reduce humidity?

Yes, our air conditioning systems can help to reduce humidity in your property. Not only does water cooled air conditioning blow cool air into your property, it also removes heat and humidity by passing the air through cooling coils. This helps to remove extra moisture from the air so it doesn’t feel so humid.
