Who is water cooled air conditioning for?

Water cooled air conditioning systems are specifically designed for apartments, flats, listed buildings or properties in conservation areas where conventional air conditioning systems with external condensers are unable to be installed.

Water Cooled System

Do I need to get planning permission to have a water cooled air conditioning system installed?

Our fully internal water cooled air conditioning system doesn't require planning permission. This makes the system ideal for apartments, listed buildings and properties located within conservation areas, as it doesn't have an external unit and no external modification to the property are required.

Water Cooled System

Do the systems heat as well as cool?

Our water cooled system does provide heating; however, we advise only using this as a backup and not a primary source of heating for your property.

Water Cooled System

What's the difference between an internal and external air conditioning system?

Conventional air conditioning systems have both an internal room unit and an external condenser unit, which are connected by refrigerant copper pipes. The external units, often noisy and unsightly boxes located on the outside buildings, are the condensers. These condensers use external air and a fan to reject the heat from the condenser coil. An internal water cooled system works in a similar way, but with one key difference. Instead of using air to cool the refrigerant, the system uses water instead. The internal room units are still connected via refrigerant pipes, but the condenser unit uses water to cool the refrigerant in the system.

Water Cooled System

Do water cooled air conditioning systems work as well as conventional systems?

The cold air from our internal room units is just as cool as that from a conventional air conditioning system - or even the air conditioning in your car. An efficient system will deliver air that's 10-12 degrees Celsius cooler than the room temperature. So if it's 23 degrees Celsius inside, you can expect refreshing air at around 11-13 degrees Celsius.

Popular Questions

Is water cooled air conditioning as effective at cooling as conventional air conditioning?

Yes! In fact, water cooled systems can be even more effective than conventional air conditioning. This is because, even when outside temperatures soar above 30 degrees, the water entering your property still stays typically at a much cooler temperature, around 20 degrees Celsius or below. This allows our water-cooled systems to remove heat more efficiently, providing you with a cooler and more comfortable environment.

Water Cooled System

How do water cooled systems compare to portable air conditioning units?

Portable air conditioning units can be useful in some situations, but they do come with several drawbacks. They're noisy, require an open window for the hose, and are somewhat inefficient as they pull in air that has already been cooled in the room over the condenser to discharge outside. Plus, they usually operate on a fixed speed – meaning they just turn on and off.

In contrast, our internal room units that connect up to our water cooled condenser are virtually silent, let you keep your windows closed, and filter the air. They're also inverter controlled, which means they adjust the compressor speed to maintain a stable room temperature while using less electricity.

Water Cooled System

What are the benefits of a water cooled air conditioning system?

There are numerous benefits to our water cooled air conditioning system. Here are some of them:

  1. No external unit or planning permission required
  2. Maintains the visual appeal of your property
  3. Cool multiple rooms simultaneously
  4. Control the temperature of your property from anywhere
  5. Adds to your property's value and rentability
  6. Quick installation with minimal disruption
  7. Peace of mind 5 year warranty cover
Water Cooled System

Can you install a water cooled air conditioning system in a listed building?

Yes! Listed buildings often come with restrictions that prevent any modifications to the exterior of the property, which means conventional air conditioning systems requiring an outdoor condenser are usually not allowed. Our water cooled systems overcome these challenges and provide efficient cooling without impacting the building’s aesthetics or needing planning permission.

Popular Questions

Can I have air conditioning in an apartment if I have no outdoor space?

Yes, you can install a water cooled air conditioning system in your apartment even if you have no outdoor space. Our systems are ideal for apartments, listed buildings, or any properties where external modifications are not possible or permitted.

Water Cooled System

How energy-efficient is the water cooled condenser unit?

With new inverter technology, our internal water-cooled air conditioning system is rated AAA for electrical energy efficiency. This means it won’t cause your electricity bill to sky-rocket and is cheaper to run than most portable A/C options.

Water Cooled System

How big is the internal water cooled condenser unit?

We have a wide range of condensers that increase in size depending on the number of indoor units they are required to provide cool air to. The smallest condenser we have is just 500mm x 500mm x 295mm.

Water Cooled System
Popular Questions

How many rooms can one condenser keep cool?

We provide a wide range of condensers capable of supplying between one and five indoor units. This means that our most advanced condenser can effectively manage the cooling needs of up to five separate rooms simultaneously.

Water Cooled System

Is the water cooled air conditioning system loud?

We’re proud to say that our internal water cooled condenser units are the quietest on the market operating at around 49 decibels, which is similar to a quiet washing machine. However, they can also be installed in a cupboard or with an acoustic jacket to hide the noise further.

Water Cooled System

What temperatures can a water cooled system achieve?

A water cooled air conditioning system can cool your room to the same temperature as a conventional air conditioning system, typically around 18°C. However, we recommend setting the room temperature to 21–22°C, as 18°C can feel quite cold.

All air conditioning systems generally lower the room temperature by 10–12°C. For example, if the room starts at 26°C when the system is turned on, the air coming out of the unit will be between 14–16°C. As the room temperature drops to 21°C, the air exiting the unit will be around 9–11°C.

It's important to note that the setpoint temperature on the remote control refers to the desired room temperature, not the temperature of the air coming out of the unit. Lowering the setpoint will not make the air coming from the unit colder; this is determined by the temperature of the air entering the system.

Water Cooled System

Does the air conditioning system require a power supply?

Yes, our fully internal air conditioning systems require an electrical power supply for the condenser unit. The specific requirements depend on the system’s capacity. For systems with a condenser under 5.2 kW, a 13A switched spur connection is sufficient. However, if the condenser is over 5.2 kW, it will need to be connected directly to the fuse board.

Water Cooled System

What are the power requirements for the water cooled condenser?

Our smaller condensers, under 5.2 kW, can be powered by a 13A fuse. Systems above 5.2 kW will require a larger circuit breaker, typically 25A or 32A, for our largest condensers.

Water Cooled System

How much electricity does the water cooled air conditioning system use?

Air conditioning systems are generally very efficient, typically providing 3 kW of cooling for every 1 kW of electricity used. For example, if your condenser is rated at 5 kW, it will consume approximately 1.66 kW of electricity. This consumption occurs when the unit is running at full capacity. In practice, as the room temperature approaches the setpoint, the inverter air conditioning system will gradually reduce its output, using less electricity.

Water Cooled System

What size are the service connections for the water cooled condenser?

Our internal air conditioning condensers typically use 12mm and 6mm pipework for air conditioning connections. The water connections for a water-cooled condenser are 22mm for both the inlet and outlet. Please note that the air conditioning pipework is insulated for better system efficiency. The insulation adds 9mm to the pipework thickness, so the larger pipework will have an effective thickness of 30mm, and the smaller pipework will be 24mm thick.

Water Cooled System

How is air conditioning pipework routed through a property?

The air conditioning pipework must run between the indoor units and the condenser, which is usually located in a utility cupboard. A pair of insulated pipes (flow and return) are routed above the false ceiling, connecting the indoor units to the condenser. Alongside the pipework, a communication cable and condensate drain are also installed.

Water Cooled System

What is the purpose of the required water?

With conventional air conditioning the condenser is located outside, so it can draw in air to cool the refrigerant. In an internal water cooled system the system uses water to cool the refrigerant instead. The water passes over a heat exchanger, this heat is then rejected from the high temperature refrigerant to the low temperature water, which in turn cools the refrigerant.

Water

Does the water flow through the pipes that connect the units together?

It is only the refrigerant gas that runs through the interconnecting pipework , and not water. No water flows through the pipes connecting the units together.

Water

How much water does the system use?

We regularly get asked about the water consumption of our units. The exact amount is actually very hard to determine as usage depends on the following variable factors.

Setpoint temperature: One of these factors is the setpoint temperature of the room that is being air conditioned. This is because more water will be required to bring the room down to say, 18degC than it would if it was set to our recommendation of 22 - 23degC.

Outdoor air temperature: The outdoor air temperature is also going to play an important role in the amount of water consumption. The hotter it is outside the more heat is being transferred from the outdoor air to the cooler room being air conditioned.

Building Materials: Another factor is how your property has been constructed and the type of materials that have been used. A building with a lot of glass and thermal insulation will absorb external heat and retain it in the building for longer.

Input water temperature: As we are using cold water to cool the hot refrigerant, the colder the water that comes into the system, the less that will be required to remove the latent heat from the refrigerant.

Usage: Probably the most obvious is the number of hours the unit is operating for someone who leaves the air conditioning system on all day will require a lot more water than someone that switches the system on for a few hours to cool a bedroom before going to bed.

To give you an idea - an average sized bedroom of, 5m x 4m, with a normal amount of glass windows, well insulated to modern building regs, an outdoor temperature of 27degrees C and an incoming water supply of 12degC - would require a 2kw indoor unit, as well as the condenser unit. This condenser would give out a water flow of 40 litres per hour to cool the room to 22 degrees.

Our condenser units only use water when the condenser is running to provide cooling. When the room has reached the setpoint temperature of 22 - 23 degC the condenser will switch off. To maintain the setpoint temperature of the room or systems normally only take 20 – 30 minutes per hour of operation, so water consumption will drop when the setpoint temperature is simply being maintained.

Water

Can you recycle the used water?

As the wastewater has been heated up to around 45-50degC - it makes sense to try and re-use the heated water. We are able to connect up to a large hot water storage cylinder to the unit, so the heated water can be used for a shower or bath. However, this is not possible in a lot of cases as hot water cylinders do take up a lot of room and they will also add to the cost of installation.

If your building has a communal heating system and or a chilled water circuit then it is possible for our water-cooled condenser unit to connect to these without any waste water at all. This would depend on what water flow temperatures are running through these systems.

Popular Questions

Do I need a water supply for each unit?

Water cooled air conditioning only requires a water supply at the condensing unit, it is refrigerant pipework that connects the condenser and indoor units together. So you only need a water supply at the condenser location.

Water

What is the recommended water pressure?

Our recommended water pressure is about 1.5bar. Most modern flats and apartments built in the last 30 years will have a boosted mains water supply and therefore should not have any issues. In older properties, on rare occasions water pressure can be low. If this is the case in your property this will need to be highlighted to one of our surveyors during your survey. They will then be able to take a deeper look and advise accordingly.

Water

Can I use your system if I have a water softener?

Yes, our water cooled condensers are compatible with any water softener. We simply take a water feed before the softener, as this helps to reduce salt consumption within the device.

Water

What types of indoor room units do you offer?

We offer a range of indoor room units that connect to the Water Cooled condenser, these include wall-mounted, floor-mounted or ducted units.

We offer three types of wall-mounted units:

  1. Urban Designer - Combining modern design with high functionality. These wall-mounted units feature swappable textile covers, allowing you to customise the unit to match your room's decor.
  2. Urban Classic - This range connects our internal water cooled condensers to Panasonic’s Etherea wall-mounted units. This line is known for its sleek design and advanced smart features.
  3. Urban Compact - Designed for properties that are limited on space or want a more discreet system. This solution not only offers functionality but also provides the flexibility to customise the wall units in four different colours (Urban Grey, Silver Grey, Stone and Ivory).
Indoor Room Units

Which indoor room unit is best?

Choosing the best indoor unit really depends on your preferences, style, and budget. All internal room units function the same way - by taking in warm air and pushing out cool air. Wall-mounted units are generally less expensive and usually more efficient due to them having less airflow resistance. We offer a wide variety of these units in different sizes and colours.

Ducted units on the other hand, only show a grille but do require a deeper ceiling void and additional ductwork to have them installed. It's best to discuss your options with one of our surveyors to see what fits your property best.

Indoor Room Units

Do you offer ducted air conditioning units?

Yes, above ceiling deducted units can be installed, but your property must have a false ceiling void of 250mm to allow for the ducted units and associated ductwork to fit above the ceiling.

If you want to maintain a seamless look within your property, by hiding away your air conditioning system behind a modern and minimalist grill this will cost an additional £600-£900 per unit.

Popular Questions

How easy is it to use and control the system?

Our air conditioning systems can be controlled by an infrared remote or via our app anywhere with WiFi. Set a temperature for the system to cool the rooms to and it will automatically switch off when it reaches that setpoint temperature.

Indoor Room Units

Can I add additional units to the system at a later stage?

Should you wish to upgrade your current system and want to add additional indoor units at a later date, this is possible. However, it would need to be discussed with one of our surveyors during your survey. This will allow our surveyor to choose the correct condenser for the upgrade.

Indoor Room Units

How much is water cooled air conditioning?

Our water cooled air conditioning systems start from £3,990 for a one wall-mounted unit.

  • Urban Compact: £3,990 (1 unit) - £9,520 (3 units)
  • Urban Classic:  £4,120 (1 unit) - £16,350 (5 units)
  • Urban Designer £4,530 (1 unit) - £18,450 (5 units)

Ducted and Floor-mounted units cost an additional £600-900 per unit on top of our Urban Designer price.

Please note. These are only guide prices, in order to provide you with an accurate quote, we would need to conduct a site survey of your property. We offer three types of surveys - an On-site, a Video Survey and an Online Self Survey.

All of our survey options are completely free, and there is never an obligation to buy.

Costs

Why are water cooled systems more expensive than conventional systems?

Conventional air conditioning systems are mass-produced, mostly in China, which drives costs down due to cheaper labour and large-scale production. Our internal water cooled systems are not made in such vast numbers and are proudly manufactured right here in the UK. This ensures top-notch quality and supports local craftsmanship, which we believe is worth every penny.

Costs

Is everything included in the price? Are there any hidden costs?

Our quotations include everything from the units themselves to installation, apart from two things:

The first is if you require an electrician to provide the electrical power supply to the condenser unit, either via a switched spur or directly from your fuse board. Our recommended electrician typically charges £150 plus VAT for a switched spur or £300 - £350 plus VAT for wiring into a fuse board. Upon completion, the electrician will provide an electrical installation certificate as required by Part P of the building regulations. You are also welcome to use your own electrician if you prefer.

The second is post installation decorating costs. Some minor decoration work may be required to 'make good' of the holes we need to cut in the ceiling to install the pipework. We can recommend a decorator who charges £350 + VAT for this work, though you do also have the choice to use your own preferred decorator or complete the work yourself

Please note. We do not make any profit on top of the electrician or decorators services, therefore the charges for both are payable directly by you.

Popular Questions

How much do water cooled air conditioning systems cost to run?

Our air conditioning systems are very energy efficient. For example, a 3kW air conditioning condenser will typically use only around 1kW of electricity.

To estimate the running costs, take the rated output of the condenser we've quoted (e.g. 3kW), divide it by three (1kW), and that will give you the kilowatt-hours the system will use if running at 100% for a full hour. You can then multiply this by your electricity rate per kilowatt-hour.

However, our systems are inverter-controlled, meaning they use less electricity as the room temperature approaches the set point. The compressor's speed is reduced to match the demand, which further reduces electricity consumption.

Costs
Popular Questions

Do you offer a discount if my neighbours have previously purchased a system?

Yes, we offer two ways to receive a discount on your installation:

  1. Referral Discount: Simply refer us to your neighbour via an introduction email. If your neighbour places an order, we will pay you £150 for each referral.
  2. Group Discount: If you form a small group of neighbours who are all interested in proceeding with an order, we can offer up to a 10% discount to each group member, depending on the group size. The only condition is that all members of the group must have their installations carried out simultaneously.
Costs

What payment terms do you offer?

Upon accepting our quotation, we kindly ask for a 75% deposit to place the materials and units on order and to secure your installation slot. The remaining 25% will be invoiced to you upon completion of the commissioning of the system.

Costs

Do you offer Finance?

No, unfortunately we don’t offer finance payments on our air conditioning systems. We previously provided a finance option, but it was not widely used by our customers, who generally preferred to pay with a low-rate credit card. As a result, we discontinued the finance service.

Costs

What are the payment options?

We accept all major debit and credit cards. However, we can also accept payment via bank transfer if this is easier for you.

Costs

What does the installation process look like?

We connect each indoor unit to the condenser unit using two insulated refrigerant pipes and communication cables, which run through access holes we cut into the plasterboard. Once fitted, the system is then pressure tested, and the plasterboard access holes are re-installed.

We complete your installation by fully testing and commissioning the system, before providing you with a demonstration.

You may require a decorator to sand, fill and paint the access holes that have been created during the installation. We can either put you in touch with one of our recommended decorators or you can source your own. If you choose to use one of our decorators, this will cost £350 for up to 10 access holes and would be payable directly to them.

Installation

How is an internal water cooled system installed?

The installation process for this system is straightforward and takes on average one day per indoor unit.

Firstly, we install the condenser and connect it to your water mains, drainage and electrical supply. Its compact design makes it easy to conceal in a utility room or cupboard.

Next the indoor units (which can be wall mounted, floor mounted or ducted) are installed in each room which requires cooling. The optimal locations are established at survey stage, ensuring the property is cooled in the most efficient way.

Installation

Do you need to modify the property’s exterior during installation?

Our fully internal water cooled system doesn’t require an external unit or any modifications to the property’s exterior at all.

Installation

Can the system be installed over multiple floors and how many units can be connected?

Yes, our systems are able to be installed over multiple floors as long as the height does not exceed 8 metres from the condenser to the indoor room units. We can also cool up to five rooms with one of our internal condensers.

Installation

Where is the best location to install the condenser unit in an apartment or flat?

The condenser unit should be installed in a location with access to a mains water supply, a waste drain connection, and sufficient clearance around the unit for pipework and maintenance.

From our experience of installing over a thousand of these systems the following areas within an apartment or flat are ideal for installing the condenser unit:

  • In a utility room
  • Under a sink
  • In an airing, boiler or storage cupboard
  • In a kitchen unit
Installation

How much space is required around the water cooled condenser unit?

Our water cooled condenser units require a minimum clearance of 15 cm on the right-hand side for pipework and 10 cm above the unit to allow the lid to be removed during maintenance and servicing.

Installation

Does the condenser have to be installed upright?

Yes, our water cooled condensers use an oil lubricant that needs to stay at the bottom of the unit to work correctly. So keeping the condenser vertically upright is a must!

Installation

Can I put the condenser unit on my balcony?

Unfortunately, water cooled condenser units can't be installed on balconies as there's usually no nearby water supply or waste connection.

However, if you are allowed an external condenser our Incognito® systems might be the perfect option for you as it is designed for properties with balconies and blending into your property exterior. To read more about our Incognito® system click here.

Installation

How messy is the system installation?

Despite using professional cutting and dust extraction systems, our installation teams put down dust sheets and cover furniture. However, we just want to give you a heads-up that some airborne dust may still settle on your furniture, which can be easily cleaned with a duster.

Installation

When is the best time to install the system if I’m having renovation work done?

If you’re renovating, we recommend scheduling the first fix installation as early as possible, usually right after stud walls are in place. This timing helps in planning the air conditioning pipework alongside other trades like plumbing and electrical work.

Installation

How far in advance can I book my installation, and how long will I have to wait?

You can book your installation at any time once the deposit invoice is paid. Depending on the time of year, installations can be scheduled as soon as 7 days after payment or up to a year in advance. During busy periods, our waiting times may extend up to 4 weeks.

Installation

Who will be installing the air conditioning system?

Our friendly installation team are all experienced, F-Gas registered engineers that work for Urban Cooling.

We are experienced in working with many manufacturers and are approved installers for Panasonic, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Toshiba and Fujitsu equipment.

Installation
Popular Questions

How long does it take to install the air conditioning?

We recommend allowing one day per indoor unit. In many new builds, the installation can be quicker, often completing two or three units in one day. However, we prefer to allocate extra time to account for any unexpected difficulties.

Installation
Popular Questions

Can I fit the air conditioning myself?

We only sell our air conditioning units with installation included. This is because the units require specialist and experienced installers to fit them correctly, if the unit is not fitted correctly it may cause future issues to occur.

Installation

Do I need to do anything before my air conditioning installer arrives?

We kindly ask that any wall decorations and furniture are removed from the area that our engineers will be working in prior to the installation, our insurance prohibits our engineers from moving them in case of accidental damage.

Further details of what you will need to do before can be found in our pre-installation guide that will be sent to you once you have booked your installation with us.

Installation

Will I have to redecorate after installation?

In most cases, our water cooled air conditioning installation will require our engineers to cut small holes in the ceiling, to pull pipework from the indoor units to the condenser unit. While our engineers will replace the plasterboard, you will need to fill and paint over these holes.

This requirement is noted in our quotation, and we can recommend a painter and decorator who charges £350 + VAT for up to 10 holes. If your system has three or fewer indoor units, you will typically have under 10 holes to repair. For more than 3 units, the number of holes may exceed this limit. You are free to use our recommended decorator, do it yourself, or hire another professional.

Installation

Will there be holes in the walls of my property?

For wall-mounted units, we need to cut small holes to run the pipework. These holes are hidden behind the wall-mounted units and will not be seen. In properties with solid walls, we have two options:

The first is chasing the wall to hide the pipework inside, please note this option does create a bit more dust. The second option is boxing in the pipework or using plastic trunking. Our surveyors will determine the best approach based on your wall construction.

Installation

Can I get a quote online?

Unfortunately, as every property’s needs are different, we are unable to provide you with an accurate quote online. The price of the installation will change based on several factors, such as the number of rooms that need cooling, the size of the condenser required, and the structure of the property.

We can say that our Urban Compact range of fully internal water cooled systems start from £3,990 plus VAT.

To receive an accurate quote for your property, we need to conduct a survey. We offer several survey options to suit your needs:

  • On-site Survey: One of our expert engineers will visit your property.
  • Video Survey: Conducted via WhatsApp or FaceTime.
  • Online Self Survey: Available if you live in an apartment built after 2000.

Surveys & Quotes

Why do you need to complete a survey to provide me with a quote?

Since every property is constructed differently, we need to ensure there are no specific constraints that could affect the installation at your location. Installations are always possible as long as your property has mains electricity, water, and drainage connections. However, we may need to consider alternative routes for running pipework to minimise disruption in your home, for example:

We wouldn’t want to begin installing a system only to encounter unexpected issues, so we always aim to survey the property, ideally before providing a quote.

Surveys & Quotes

How does an on-site survey work?

An engineer will attend and survey your property at a time convenient to you. During the visit, they'll measure and identify the best way to install the system. They will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Surveys & Quotes

How does a video survey work?

Using WhatsApp or FaceTime, you’ll be required to guide the engineer around your property using your mobile device and show them the rooms where you would like air conditioning (please note you’ll need a tape measure handy). Just like with an on-site survey, the engineer will be able to answer any questions you may have.

Surveys & Quotes

What is an online self survey?

If you live in an apartment built after 2000, you have the option to complete our Online Self survey form to get a quote within 72 hours.

To complete an online self survey you will require a tape measure, as you’ll need to provide the dimensions of the rooms in your property and upload pictures or short videos of where you want the air conditioning to be installed.

This whole process takes about 15 minutes depending on the number of rooms you need cooled. If you want air conditioning in more than 5 rooms, you’ll need to have an on-site or video survey.

Surveys & Quotes

What does the surveyor need to see during an on-site or video survey?

When conducting an on-site or video survey, our surveyors will need to view the following:

  • The rooms where you would like air conditioning installed
  • Your preferred location for the internal condenser unit
  • The ceiling space between the indoor units and the condenser location (to check for a false ceiling that can accommodate pipework)
  • Mains water and drainage connection points for the condenser
  • A picture of the fuse board (to check if there is a spare circuit available for the condenser)
  • The type of wall construction in your property (e.g. stud or solid walls)
Surveys & Quotes

What happens after I have had a survey?

Following the survey, our surveyor will enter the information into our database and select the appropriate capacity indoor units needed to air condition the specified rooms. They will then prepare a quotation based on your requirements, which will be emailed to you, typically within 72 hours of the site survey.

Post Installation & Maintenance

Will the system leak water into my property if there's a problem?

Our water cooled systems only use water in the condenser unit, with no water running through the pipework connecting the indoor unit to the condenser. The water cooled condenser units are manufactured to the highest standards, with all internal components fully brazed to minimise the risk of leaks. This makes the likelihood of a water leak similar to that of a washing machine or dishwasher within your home.

Post Installation & Maintenance

What repairs might be needed post-installation?

As long as the system is serviced annually by our engineers to ensure it is functioning correctly and efficiently, post-installation repairs should not be necessary.

Post Installation & Maintenance

Does the water-cooled system need servicing?

Yes, to ensure your system performs optimally for as long as possible, we recommend servicing it once a year.

How does the Incognito® system work?

Our Incognito® system works in the same way as a conventional air conditioning system, except the condenser has been split into two components; a compressor box that can be installed internally or externally, and a condenser coil located externally, such as a balcony or garden space.

By splitting the major components, the compressor box can be packaged up into a smaller and quieter housing, which in turn allows for more locations for it to be installed. Heat absorbed from the property is rejected from the designer slim profile condenser.

The compressor box is then connected via refrigerant pipework to the internal units that discharge the conditioned air. As with conventional air conditioning internal units can be wall, floor, or ceiling mounted.

Incognito® System

How does the Incognito® system compare to conventional Air Conditioning?

The Incognito® system delivers the same performance as conventional air conditioning units, as essentially the system uses all the same elements. However, in our Incognito® system, these elements are split up and seamlessly integrated into your property.

Incognito® System

Is the Incognito® system better than the Water Cooled system?

Each system could be classed as being 'better' in certain situations. For example in instances where external modifications are restricted, such as with listed buildings, the Water Cooled system would be a much better solution as it is fully internal.

Incognito® System

What are the benefits of an Incognito air conditioning system?

The key features and benefits of the Incognito® system include the following:

Modern and Customisable Design

Unlike traditional systems our Incognito system has been created with visual aesthetic at the forefront of its design.

With a selection of high quality indoor wall units available in various colours, as well as the option to customise our Urban Designer wall units with your own fabric, your system can be fully tailored to complement your property's style.

In addition to our customisable wall units we also have a range of pre- made Condenser screen designs for you to choose from, as well as the option to design your own.

Space-Saving Compact System

We’ve split the traditional external condenser in two parts, an external condenser coil and internal compressor box, to allow the system to seamlessly integrate into your property and occupy minimal space.

Built for properties with various amounts of outdoor space, even apartments with balconies, the slimline condenser coil effortlessly fits onto an external wall. While the internal compressor box maximises the dead space within your property by being fitted in a cupboard or utility room.

Energy Efficient Heating and Cooling

Rated A++ for energy efficiency, our system hasn’t just been engineered for aesthetic appeal, but also to excel in performance, ensuring unparalleled air conditioning comfort even in the heights of summer and winter. It's also means that your electricity bill won't sky- rocket and is cheaper to run than most portable AC options.

The system will allow you to cool or heat up to three rooms simultaneously. Moreover, you will also have the added benefit of being able to independently control the temperature in each room when in either cooling or heating modes. However, please note that the system can either cool or heat all rooms at the same time, not a mix of both.

Quiet Indoor and Outdoor Units

Our Incognito® system connects up with a variety of indoor units to provide you with a whisper quiet cooling solution.

The Internal Compressor Box operates at around between 44-49 decibels, which is similar to a quiet washing machine. However, they can also be installed in a cupboard or an acoustic jacket can be fitted over the unit to hide the noise further. Meanwhile the External Condenser Coil is even quieter operating at around 35 decibels.

Incognito® System

Do you need planning permission to install the Incognito® System?

Incognito® System

Can I have an Incognito® air conditioning system if I only want one indoor room unit?

Yes, it is possible to have an Incognito air conditioning system with just one indoor unit. However, since the compressor box and condenser coil are essentially the same as those used in a two-port condenser, the price for a single unit option is slightly higher than that of a single-system water-cooled equivalent.

Incognito® System

What does the installation process look like for the Incognito® system?

We connect each indoor unit to the condenser unit using two insulated refrigerant pipes and communication cables, which run through access holes we cut into the plasterboard. We then do the same to connect up the outdoor Condenser Coil, also using two insulated refrigerant pipes and communication cables. Once fitted, the system is then pressure tested, and the plasterboard access holes are re-installed.

We complete your installation by fully testing and commissioning the system, before providing you with a demonstration. You may require a decorator to fill and paint the access holes that have been created during the installation. We can either put you in touch with one of our recommended decorators or you can source your own. If you choose to use one of our decorators, this will cost £350 for up to 10 access holes and would be payable directly to them.

Incognito® System

Does the Incognito® air conditioning system come with warranty?

Yes, we offer a full parts and labour warranty for 12 months on our Incognito® system. This warranty can be extended for an additional two years with full parts and labour coverage, followed by a further two years covering parts only. An extension of the warranty is subject to an annual service being completed by our aftercare and maintenance team, where it is cleaned, tested, and checked.

The service fee is paid monthly at a cost of £20 p/m (including VAT) for 1-3 indoor units and £25 p/m (including VAT) for 4 -7 indoor units. This cost is collected via a monthly direct debit.
