Myth: Running an air conditioning system is expensive no matter what type of unit
Truth: New and modern air conditioning systems no longer cost excessive amounts of money to buy and run in your home. With new inverter technology, our internal water cooled air conditioning system is rated AAA for energy efficiency.
Upon estimation the electricity costs are between 14p-30p per hour to run a water-cooled air conditioning system, depending on the sizes of the rooms you wish to cool, the outdoor temperature and a few more factors.
So you can rest assured that your air conditioning system won’t cost you a fortune.
Myth: A traditional fan portable AC Unit is just as effective as air conditioning
Truth: Portable air conditioning units can be good at cooling small rooms or a garage. They require an exhaust hose which will dispose of the hot air through a window. This can be clunky and if you do not have access to a window in the room you want to cool it can cause some issues.
An internal water cooled air conditioning system will cool and lower the temperature of the air and remove excess humidity all at the same time. This means that you will feel the benefits of the cool and purified air much more efficiently. A wall mounted system will also cool large spaces and multiple rooms which a portable unit will struggle to do.
Myth: Air Conditioning is only needed in the summer
Truth: We all know that weather in the UK is very temperamental. With record weeks of hot weather followed by a drop in temperature only a week later. This may make you question the point of having an air conditioning system in your home.
Even in cooler but sunny weather, particularly in places like London, it can be very humid and your house or apartment can become stuffy and uncomfortable. Building regulations for new builds means that they have so much insulation that it can be pretty hot in a flat / apartment all year round.
This humidity can also impact the higher number of people working from home as they go without the luxury of an office air conditioning system to keep them cool throughout the day. Myth: Air conditioning maintenance is a waste of money and time
Truth: Ignoring and neglecting maintenance on your air conditioning systems can cause serious faults and in effect becomes much more costly and time consuming than simply maintaining your unit. For an efficient and well functioning air conditioning system, it is a good idea to have it maintained at least once a year.

Myth: Air Conditioning can make you ill
Truth: One of the biggest myths of air conditioning is that it can cause you to catch a cold. This couldn’t be further from the truth as air conditioning can’t chill you to the point of illness. In actual fact, an Urban Cooling fully internal system has many health benefits as the activated charcoal air filtration system purifies the air, reduces the levels of dust, moisture, bacteria and pathogens in the air. This creates a healthier environment for those with asthma, respiratory issues, allergies and hay fever.
Myth: Turning off the A/C when I’m not at home saves energy
Truth: If you are going away for an extended period of time like a holiday, turning the air conditioning off will save energy. However, if you turn off your air conditioning and go to work on a sunny day and then turn it back on when you come home, the unit has to work much harder to cool your home.
A better way of keeping your home at a consistent temperature and potentially save energy is to set your air-con at a slightly higher temperature when you’re not at home, for example 23-25 degrees. This will create a steady temperature so when you get home you can simply turn it down a few degrees to get a cool and relaxed temperature without using excess energy.
